Almost everyone who buys a Tornado Body Dryer asks the same question before they order: what will my electrician make of this?
It's a fair question. A body dryer is not something most electricians have fitted before, and "warm air machine inside the shower" is the kind of phrase that makes a careful tradesperson want to see paperwork. So this article is written for them as much as for you. Send them the link, or print it and hand it over with the installation instructions.
The short version: it's a straightforward job. Most licensed electricians complete it in one to two hours, and the mechanical assembly of the unit takes under an hour on top.
The Electrical Requirement
The Tornado Body Dryer runs on 220/240V and needs a dedicated 240V circuit. That's the same type of circuit used for an electric range, a clothes dryer or an EV charger, and it's standard in almost every American home. If the bathroom doesn't already have one, running a new circuit from the panel is routine work.
Because it's a bathroom installation, we strongly recommend a GFCI breaker on the circuit. The installation must comply with the National Electrical Code and all applicable local building codes, and it must be carried out by a licensed electrician. The unit is not designed for owner installation and we don't support it.
The unit itself draws approximately 0.145 kilowatts over a standard three-minute drying cycle — roughly 0.15 kWh per use. It's not a heavy load; the dedicated circuit is about safety and isolation, not capacity.
Where It Goes
The dryer mounts in the corner of a walk-in shower, shower stall or wet room. A wall bracket is fixed at approximately 78 inches (198 cm) from the floor and 5.3 inches (13.5 cm) from the corner. The pod hangs from that bracket, and the leg sections connect below it down to the floor.
The unit is 80.7 inches high, 10.8 inches wide and 10.4 inches deep. We recommend a minimum enclosure of 36 × 36 inches for comfortable use. It's splash-rated IPX4, so it lives happily inside the enclosure.
Nothing about the installation requires plumbing work, structural changes or special flooring.
If the Ceiling Is Low or the Floor Is Raised
The bottom leg section can be shortened by up to 17.3 inches (44 cm). That's what makes installation above a raised shower base, or in a room with a lower ceiling, possible. The one rule: never cut across the teardrop-shaped air pores. Cut in the solid section only, and the airflow pattern is unaffected.
The Switch: No Electrics on the Wall
This is the part electricians tend to like. The wall switch is not an electrical switch. It's a remote air-pressure switch, connected to the pod by a PVC hose. There's no wiring at the switch position and no electrical component within reach of the user — which is why it can be mounted anywhere convenient on the shower wall, including at seated height for a wheelchair user.
One press gives moderate airflow, a second press increases it, a third turns it off.

Every unit ships with the pod, the leg sections, the wall bracket, the remote switch and hose, and full illustrated installation instructions. The instructions and the specification sheet are also available on our website before you buy, so your electrician can quote from them.
A Typical Installation, Start to Finish
Before the day: the customer sends the electrician our installation instructions and specification sheet. The electrician confirms there's a dedicated 240V circuit available or quotes to run one.
On the day: fix the bracket at height and offset. Hang the pod. Connect the leg sections, shortening the bottom section if needed. Mount the switch and route the hose. Make the electrical connection on the dedicated circuit with GFCI protection. Test on both airflow settings.
Afterwards: wipe the unit down with warm soapy water. That's the maintenance regime. No servicing is required under normal domestic use.
